Classic Alfa News No 1 August 2004

Phew! What a year........it's been a year now since I resigned from Alfaholics and formed Classic Alfa and the response has been fantastic. Over 2,500 orders satisfied in the first 12 months and hundreds of new customers joining the many I have dealt with for the last 12 years.

The "Cars for Sale" section of the site has proved very popular with customers being able to advertise their cars for six months for only £75+vat. Most have sold within the first two months and we have had roughly a 75% success rate.

I am constantly expanding the range of parts offered to Giulietta owners and have become one myself with the purchase of a gorgeous 1960 Giulietta Spider Veloce in white with black interior (Day of the Jackal fans spot me a mile off!). The car was the personal property of a well known Italian restorer hence the 8 year old restoration still looking factory fresh!

Simon Whiting of Gran Turismo and myself have just completed a Bertone GT Buyer's Guide for the September issue of Classic Cars magazine which is in the shops now and will provide a useful reference for anyone considering purchasing one of these fantastic coupes.

International customers should note that due to the high volume of foreign orders sent throughout this last year we are now able to offer a fantastic shipping rate to most countries in the world - a 20lb parcel to the USA for example now only costs £35. Up to 25kg to France, Germany or Denmark - £13.65 on a 48hr service! The same parcel to Italy, Spain or Portugal - £22.

The result of all this activity has been that I need to find someone to work alongside myself & Fred Baker (who does the packing & despatch) to help take phone calls, reply to emails, process orders and even dismantle the odd wreck! Finally, thanks to all of my customers, old & new, who have been so supportive in this first year of Classic Alfa. Business has been so strong that we have been able to stock, in our first year, what I had expected to take at least two years to accomplish. We are carrying more stock than ever before here in Dulwich and this means better service to you the customers as we carry virtually everything in the catalogue in stock ALL the time. A few customers have been shocked when placing their order on the website at 3 or 4 in the afternoon and receiving the parcel the following morning! One trade customer, W.A.D. Autodevelopments in Wolverhampton, remarked "We ordered an exhaust section for a 2001 GTV from our modern Alfa supplier and a front exhaust section for a 1961 Giulietta Sprint from Classic Alfa - the 1961 part arrived the next day whilst the 2001 part was on back order from Italy and took over a week to arrive!
